An unforgettable flight from Jakarta, Indonesia to Vancouver, Canada

I would like to write down an experience on a long journey that I have been through from Jakarta, Indonesia to Vancouver, Canada with a transit in Narita, Japan.

My flight was on February, 6th 2023 in the evening from Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia using Japan Airlines. That was one of the most exciting days of my life since I restarted the journey of my life. I brought 8 pieces of checked luggage bag with me that contained mostly clothing and Indonesian food. Why do I bring many Indonesian foods? That’s probably the only thing that I will miss the most when I leave Indonesia because almost none of the food in the world could be neck and neck with them.

After saying goodbye to my family at the airport, I was entering the plane and the excitement was still there. It took 9 hours to reach Narita airport in Narita, Japan from Jakarta, Indonesia. When I arrived in Narita, I visited the city for a couple of hours while waiting for my next flight to Vancouver. Furthermore, my visit to Narita was remarkable. I usually visit big cities in Japan such as Tokyo and Osaka but Narita has its own charm. The city is small, walkable, and beautiful in its own way. I visited Naritasan Shinshoji Temple which is located 1.2 km away from Narita Station. It took me around 17 minutes to reach them. By visiting the temple and park of Naritasan Shinsho-ji area, I could taste a little bit of Japan without spending much time visiting their big cities. Additionally, I took lunch near the area to strengthen my memorable experience in Narita. This city is famous for its unique delicacy, freshwater eel. This food is worth trying at least once in a lifetime.

After a few hours in Narita, I entered the airplane that flew me to Vancouver. It took about 9 more hours to reach Vancouver. Overall, the flight was good even though I didn’t get much sleep. After I arrived at Vancouver International Airport. I felt so happy since it was the first time in my life to reach the North American continent. The excitement didn’t last long since I needed to face an immigration border. I needed to make sure every required document was in hand and ready to be checked by the immigration officers there. It turned out that the immigration processes were seamless and quick. My anxiety was gone when I received my study permit in about 1 hour. Lastly, I brought every luggage, I headed out to the exit gate and breathed in the air of my new journey in Canada.
